Surgery and a Book Relaunch...

Hello, my darling readers! April was a very eventful month and not for good reasons either. You see at the end of March I found out I had a giant cyst on one of my ovaries. When I say giant, I mean GIANT. This sucker measured about 7 x 5.5 x 3.5 inches. The only reason I knew it was there was because it began pushing on something in my pelvis and causing severe pain in late March. I was able to get into my gynocologist and get a quick diagnosis. Then it was off for testing, CT scans, and waiting. Within two weeks of my initial appointment, I was on the operating table getting the cyst removed because they were worried about the risk it posed to my health. Of course, all of this happened amid The Source Keepers' total makeover relaunch. I honestly wanted to cry when I found out my surgery would be on April 17th, just 2 days before the new books came out to the public.

On top of me getting surgery on the 17th, Keri (my trusty partner in book-related crime) went under the knife on the 25th. That meant the team was down, on bed rest, and a little loopy from painkillers.

What did this terrible timing mean for the relaunch? You guessed it... no energy to market led to a total of 6 books being sold on the weekend of the relaunch. While I'm thankful for every sale I get, it was a huge disappointment after the chaos of Caligo's Fall launch back in August 2023. This put two big launches at a failure in less than 8 months. It's pretty disheartening moving forward, but I'm still filled with determination that this series can and WILL find its audience.

On the upside, just before surgery, I was able to sneak the next book in the series through to beta readers. That's right, the next book snuck through alpha testing without y'all knowing and is onto beta reads. Which as of today, IS COMPLETE! Will that mean a new book in 2024? Time will tell. I have alsot officially started on the next book in the series. That means we have TWO Source Keepers novels currently underway behind the scenes. So stay tuned for more updates on that.

I think after a chaotic April, I'm excited to get back into the swing of things and come into the series with more energy and determination than before. Thank you for all of your support and positive vibes during this time. I'm so thankful to be on the mend and that I get to continue to write this fantastic fantasy series.
